Our story
From truck caps to 14,000 RVs
- 1977
Lerch RV was born in Central PA
Lerch RV had a straightforward beginning. Ed Lerch started in 1977 when he opened Seven Mountain Truck Caps and Lerch’s Arco gas station. In 1978 Ed changed the name to the now well-known Lerch RV and began offering Prowler travel trailers and fifth wheels. Shortly afterward, Lerch RV started making Prowler’s top-ten list of East Coast dealerships.
- 1980
A full-service dealership near Lewistown
In 1980 the dealership moved to a more prominent location just west of Lewistown, near the Mifflin County Industrial Park entrance, and became a full-service RV dealership: travel trailers, fifth wheels, motorhomes, truck caps and gasoline sales.
Through the 1980s and 1990s we became a dealer for Winnebago, Southwind, Coleman, Tioga, Yellowstone and Alpenlite RVs. In the early ’90s, Lerch RV even developed and built a small handful of customized travel trailers.
- ~2000
Lerch RV moves to Milroy
After 20 years west of Lewistown, and with the completion of the four-lane Route 322, the dealership moved to its current location in Milroy, PA. The new location gave the business room to grow: many more service bays and a larger parts store. The new building enabled Lerch RV to become one of the largest dealerships in Pennsylvania.
Today’s inventory is built by the largest, most reputable manufacturers in the RV industry (Alliance RV, Forest River RV, Keystone RV and KZ RV), alongside a large selection of pre-owned RVs, from pop-ups to the occasional used motorhome.
- Today
Lerch RV now in Milroy, Pennsylvania
In more than forty years, we have sold over 14,000 RVs. We were one of the first RV dealerships to offer a toll-free number, a leader in dealership computerization starting in 1979 (with many applications developed in-house), and online since the late 1990s, well before other RV dealerships in Pennsylvania.
The Lerch family has owned and operated the dealership since its inception. We are a real family business, with Ed’s daughters joining him in the dealership’s continuing growth, operation and ownership. The owners come to work every day, work every show and occupy the smallest offices at the dealership. The average employee has been with the Lerch RV family for over seventeen years, and a few for more than four decades.
